I have it halfway in my mind that I'm going to have to open an etsy shop. I can't keep storing all these tins I keep making!
Anyway, here are two for today. A Steampunk-inspired tin of fun dancing men:
And a couple of girls sunning on the sparkly sands:
I really wish the photos showed the dimension in these more accurately. They look so much better in 3D. Anyway, happy Friday, happy weekend!

Don't sass the cat.
I have a friend that asked me to make this. She wants to hang it over her dog's bowls as a gentle reminder of the house rules. She provided the photo of her cat, and I did the rest...
I hope it works for them.

Can't Stop With the Tins
I don't know why I never got the idea on my own to remove the lids of Altoid tins, but ever since I saw one with the lid removed, I have been crazy about altering them. Here's my lastest, "Dunce". This image came from a cheesy "gift book" that I picked up at the thrift store. I just love those two sad dunce boys! I cut it to fit and then mounted their legs on some foam core so they could serve as the base of the tin.
The paper in the background is an old school assignment from one of my daughters, and I chewed the pencils myself, in sacrifice to the piece. The little flashcards are from Tim Holtz, and the banner is stamped onto notebook paper and then threaded on some baker's twine. I love that twine! I may need more of that in my life.

Souvenir Beach Tin
I'm still having fun mowing through my vast collection of empty Altoids tins. Today I chose to do a kitschy beach theme. I remember going to souvenir stores at the beach when I was a kid and seeing all kinds of tacky items for sale. I recently ran across some shell-encrusted salt and pepper shakers in a thrift store, and thought it would be fun to use some of the tiny shells I collected the last time I was in Florida. So without further ado, "wish you were here".

Owl Matchbox
I just participated in another Craftster swap, this one for decorated matchboxes. My partner said she liked "green, nature, and owls". Well, those go well together! I took apart the outer sleeve of the box, and glued the drawer part down so it's all one piece. I covered the outer part with some pretty green paper, and added a snap closure on the side. The little house from part of a laser cut wooden shrine kit, covered in a French newspaper, and inked to give it a golden tone. The little rays behind the house are Poplar tree seeds, which I love using in my art. They also make great fairy wings.
Here's the box open, with the contents. I carved a tiny owl stamp, made a pendant from a Scrabble game tile, and included some old stamps, a bird charm, and a few silver beads.
Once I added the snaps, I noticed that the box would not close properly because it wasn't sturdy enough on that side. So I added a little tree branch to help stabilize it. I couldn't help but add a little owl head peaking around the tree.
I have several more matchboxes, so I might have to make something for me today.

The Table is Done!
Here it is in its new home:
And in case you haven't been following along, here is the table "before":
I told Kurt he needs a new project now, but surprisingly, he did not agree.
Happy Friday!

Sunday's Tin
I have this great old black and white photo that has been calling to be used in a tin. Look at those harsh lips! This is not a girl that takes crap from anyone. I gave her a little blush, a corsage, and a nice paper crown. Some Grungeboard flourishes (Tim Holtz) gave the tin some flair, and it's elevated a bit with a little wooden candle holder.
You say I'm a bitch like that's a bad thing.
